New Bravely Default: Flying Fairy in-game videos walks you through the ridiculously titled JRPG’s ship and bar areas, and a little bit of the dungeons.

The lack of on-screen enemies in the latter scenes — Bravely Default will feature random battles — makes for some uninteresting empty environments; I wish this took a Dragon Quest IX-style modern approach, showing enemies in the overworld that chase after you.

This game looks gorgeous while maintaining a very classic feel at the same time. I’m quite sold on the game already.

Several new Bravely Default: Flying Fairy screenshots that are lovely enough to make you forget all about the Square Enix RPG’s silly title (click for larger images).

Since Bravely Default’s reveal, we’ve learned that the game will feature traditional turn-based combat, a Final Fantasy V-style job/battle system, and random battles.

It’s safe to say that after seeing the 3DS game and its Akihiro Hino-led visual aesthetic (like an upgraded FF: The 4 Heroes Of Light), many bodies are ready for this.

I am loving the art direction in this game, as usual it’s probably because it’s gorgeous and hand drawn while maintaining an old school feel to it. I think I may be tired of games that try for a photo-realistic look.
